The Fire Dogs
Once there was a kingdom that had no light. The king decided that he would steal the sun so that he would have light. He called upon his strongest fire dog to retrieve the sun. The dog ran to the sun and tried to take it into its mouth, but the sun was too hot. The dog had to return unsuccessful. “Hmmm,” thought the king, “the sun was too hot, but the moon will be much cooler.” He then sent his second strongest fire dog to retrieve the moon, for even though it wasn’t as bright as the sun it was still better than nothing. The second fire dog tried to take the moon in it’s mouth, but the moon was too cold. That dog, too, had to return unsuccessful, and they say that when there is a solar or lunar eclipse, it is the fire dogs trying to steal the sun or moon.
